Eligibility Criteria
- Constable (UB): HS / Class XII passed from a recognized Board or Council.
- Constable (AB): HSLC / Class X passed from a recognized Board or Council.
- Candidates with Higher Secondary or above may apply for either UB or AB (with correct preference marked).
- Must be Indian citizen and permanent resident of Assam.
- Must be registered with a local Employment Exchange in Assam.
- Must speak Assamese or any other recognized state language fluently.
- Proof of residence required (for SC/ST/OBC, as per norms) after final selection.
- Those applying under special quotas (Home Guards, SPO, ex-militant, etc.) must provide appropriate certificates as per recruitment notice.

Selection Process

- Written Test – 50 marks (100 MCQ questions, 0.5 mark each, no negative marking)
- Oral / Viva-Voce – 5 marks
- Academic Weightage – 5 marks for Constable (UB) based on HS percentage
- Biometric Verification – At entry, exit, and during all recruitment stages
- Shortlisting Criteria: 5× number of posts for Written Test (based on PET merit), then 2× vacancies for Viva-Voce (based on combined PET + Written merit).
Physical & Medical Standards
- Height: Male – 162.5 cm (General/OBC/SC/ST(P)), Female – 154 cm; ST(H): Male 160 cm, Female 152 cm
- Chest (Males only): Normal: 80 cm; Expansion: +5 cm (ST(H): 78 cm normal + 5 cm expansion)
- Vision requirements: Distance vision 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other (without correction); Near vision should be normal.
- Candidates must be free from physical deformities and serious health issues — no colour-blindness, significant deformities (knock-knee, flat foot, varicose vein, hernia, etc.).
